The Golden Circle- Iceland Day 4

So our 3 day tour split between day 2 & 3. We ended up with a mostly new group and visited the Golden Circle. Luckily we got to keep our friend Keri from Canada.
Our first stop was an Unesco World Heritage spot.

Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Park

Þingvellir National Park is one of Iceland’s most significant historic and geological sites. Iceland’s first parliament, Althing (Alþing), was founded there in the year 930 AD. Althing is the oldest still-operating parliament in the world.

Thingvellir is also renowned for its geology. Here, you can see where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates meet as well as the way those plates have been drifting apart. A visit to Thingvellir will allow you to become better acquainted with Iceland’s greatest historical site. As you explore, more natural wonders will be revealed with each step you take.

This is where the Prime Minister's summer home is located.

All that excitement wore Jim out!
We also got to see a Geyser

You'll see the Geysir erupt at the 20 second mark
We went to lunch after this and Dave got to sit under pictures of famous Icelandic wrestlers!

We were on our way to Gullfoss but stopped to feed and pet some Icelandic horses (Do not call them ponies!) No other horses are allowed in Icelandic to keep them pure.

                                                          They can bend their faces!

Off to Gullfoss the largest waterfall in Iceland!

                                                        Everywhere was a "WOW!"

After the amazing waterfall we went to the "Secret Lagoon". The awkward thing here is that you have to get completely naked and shower before putting your suit on. We got over it quickly. The Lagoon was amazing. You had to be careful not to touch the walls and the water on the other side of the wall was 100 degrees Celsius!

Proseco in the hot spring was a unique experience. We had about 2 hours here.
As we were leaving 2 cruise ship buses pulled up so we had that timed well!
I asked Ronda to meet me on the corner here for dinner:
But we ended up eating Italian near the marina due to lack of pronunciation skills. Dan and Jan headed out in search of the Northern lights (they were reported by some from town) but no luck. The night after we left they were everywhere! I think that means we need to return, right?
